ABOUT THE ARTIST

When viewing Sharon's work, you can experience and feel where the artist was emotionally when it was created. As an intuitive abstract artist, her work is expressive and utilizes a wide palate of color, textures, and surfaces. Pieces are painted in oil across surfaces ranging from canvas to rusted steel, wood board, and on photographs. The artist's process includes connecting with the piece before the painting begins whether custom stretching the canvas, going to the lumber yard and having the wood boards cut before sanding and gessoing, having the metal fabricated and then rusting each piece, or taking the photographs of subjects she finds compelling and interesting to paint. This allows a thoughtful connection with the piece at the beginning of her process.

She has a BS from Fordham University and has studied art at the Visual Arts Center of NJ, the Art Students League of NY, Rutgers University, the School of Visual Arts in New York and privately over the last several years with abstract artist Emanuele Cacciatore. She began a small art collective in Summit, NJ that began during COVID and continues weekly with a focus on abstract and non-representational art. She is also on the board of the Summit Public Arts Committee in Summit, NJ.

As a continuation of her work at a non-profit dedicated to ending extreme poverty, ten percent of her sales is donated to charity. The focus of donations are NGOs supporting women, children, or those responding to emergency global relief efforts whether due to natural disaster, political unrest, or climate change. Each year, a report will be shared on the recipients of that year’s funding.

10% of all sales from "Windows and Visions" will be donated by both the artist and RAM Gallery to Face Africa. To learn more about this organization, go to https://www.faceafrica.org/

Sharon spends her time between New York City, New Jersey and on Martha’s Vineyard.
